About Wise Professional Network

The Wise Professional Network – WPN – (formerly WISE: Women in Subsea Engineering) was formed in 2016 when the Board of Subsea Energy Australia, a not for profit organisation, recognised the need to contribute to the goal of achieving gender equity within the subsea sector.

Wise was awarded a two year Women in Stem and Entrepreneurship Grant from the Department Of Industry, Innovation and Science in 2017. The grant enabled a range of activities aimed at attracting, retaining, developing and promoting women in the subsea industry.

In June 2017, Wise met with and secured the support of Senator Michaelia Cash, Minister for Women, for the Wise objective to benchmark the Australian subsea industry’s gender inclusion statistics. This report ‘Establishing the Baseline’, prepared by Professor Linley Lord, Dr. Melissa Marinelli and Ms Danielle Leotta, outlines the findings.

Key findings from the project were then used to develop the Wise Professional Network’s framework and strategies around our four pillars of – Attract, Retain, Promote & Develop.

Following the end of the grant period, Wise Professional Network are continuing to expand and develop their offerings which could not be done without the support of our program sponsors.

The Wise Professional Network’s current objectives and goals are detailed in the Wise Framework.
